Low Cost Community Legal Advice

I really enjoy developing links with the local community in South Hams, Devon where I am delighted to live close to both Plymouth and Exeter. As a Legal Consultant, I can assist you with various legal matters, whether they are relatively straightforward or more complex. Being a trusted advisor in the community navigating legal issues is very fulfilling for me.

I pride myself on working proportionately and flexibly to provide the practical, cost-sensitive legal advice you require.

As a retired solicitor, I have a very Blue Chip legal background and have a strong attention to detail. I am used to problem solving at the highest levels & am able to communicate complex legal issues in an easy-to-understand way.

My fees are very reasonable. I charge about half the costs of a junior paralegal at a firm of solicitors at a local town here in South Hams. So I would not want you to engage my services unless you totally understand why this is a great choice for you to make.

I am well versed in all aspects of Corporate and Commercial Law having spent over a decade practising this area in the City at a very high level. After graduating with an MA in Law from Cambridge University in 1980, I worked for over a decade as a corporate commercial solicitor in the City & in Paris in some of the biggest international law firms in the world (including Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Dentons & Linklaters) where I specialised in Mergers & Acquisitions and Venture Capital. I once worked for over a year on a government privatisation.

I have advised many internet start-up clients on internet and e-commerce law. With so much commerce going online as a result of the Pandemic, it has never been more important to make sure that your website is fully compliant with regard to its terms and conditions, privacy and cookie policies amongst other matters.

I have developed a strong interest in preparing Wills and Estate Planning and helping families consider important issues in good time to preserve family wealth.

Nicholas Orosz, Legal Consultant

I have a keen interest in the charitable sector and so particularly enjoy advising on Charity Law for clients who are committed to helping others . Previously I was the legal advisor on the board of trustees of three charities. I served Gaia House, a meditation centre in West Ogwell, Devon for over 10 years. I was also a founder trustee of Appropriate Technology Asia, a charity devoted to sustainable development with operational headquarters in Kathmandu.

One thing that I particularly enjoy is writing letters for clients that get them what they want – obtaining compensation or receiving a specific service. It’s a skill that I have enjoyed honing over the years.

Personal Interests & Commercial Perspective

I co-authored Tibet: the Position in International Law and personally advised HH the Dalai Lama as to the legal status of Tibet. This stems from a strong inner belief that a sense of ethics and morality are integral to dealing with legal issues.

I have run my own businesses in the UK and in Brazil, and am therefore able to bring a strong commercial perspective to legal issues.

I have maintained a meditation practice since 1982 when I sat my first vipassana meditation retreat at Gaia House. I also practice yoga.

I speak French, Hungarian, Portuguese and (a little) German.
